Epistulum

Epistulum is a melodic death metal band based in Leiden, The Netherlands. Founded in 2017 by keyboardist and vocalist Thijs Ronteltap as a solo project, Epistulum slowly grew to a full-fledged band featuring Jeroen Nels on lead-guitar, Ramon Roest on drums, Justus Ebel on bass and Billy ter Horst on rhythm guitar, later replaced by Jeremy De Boer. The band went on to produce and release their first full-length album on August 26th, 2022. The album, FROM THE DEAD MASSES, is a collection of musical portraits on the primordial aggressions within the human grounds of being, through explosive, synth-driven death metal. So far the band has been playing multiple shows in their native country, the Netherlands, but has also played its first show abroad in Ahrensburg, Germany in March in 2024.

In October 2025, the band has released their second full-length album called CANTIGA PSYCHOTICA, a musical endeavor created themed with darker, more sinister lyrics on psychosis as well as ancient mysticism.
